You know the struggle of scheduling going shopping groceries one time at week but some of your groceries can't stand that long, and you don't have time to go to the groceries store more than one time at week, one of the those groceries is the lettuce , specially for the people who eat healthy, they need a lot of it to make delicious salad. There are so many advices that can help you keep the lettuce fresh for more than a week, we picked the best recomended technics for you.
1-Make the lettuce dry by putting the leaves in a salad spinner.
putt the lettuce's leaves in a salad spinner tool, and put it in the fridge, that makes the leaves dry, and any moisture on the leaves will leak out of the spinner tool.
2-Use a zip lock plastic bag:
Wash the lettuce's leaves and put them in a zip lock plastic bag, seal the bag but leave a small hole in the end to insert a straw and suck all the air from the bag, that way you can make the lettuce dry.
3-Paper towels method:
the concept of this method is to wrap the lettuce's leaves in paper towels after drying them, then put in a bowl or a plastic bag or a closed box, and place it in the crisper drawer in the fridge.
4 - don't add the dressing and salt until the time you want to serve it or eat it.
The dressing can make the lettuce's leaves soggy and moist, itb will ruin the taste, and it's recommended to not adding the salt until right before you eat it.
another tip, if you make a salad and you want to pack it in a lunch box, you have to separate the dressing and the lettuce's leaves, you can put the dressing first then the other components then the lettuce's leaves on the top, by this the dressing will not touch the lettuce's leaves.
Remember: Wash the lettuce and remove any damaged leaves even if you bought bags of pre-washed lettuce.
